The motion of the head is often overlooked when teaching the golf swing. In order to pivot or rotate the body, the head needs to swivel in the proper direction. Wayne "Gooch" Yamaguchi gives a simple explanation of the motion of the head.
Gooch, Great tip on the head. You can really see how David Duval and Annika Sorenstam do this to get great results out of their swing. I've always had trouble turning my shoulders enough to get my club "on-plane" - seems like my chin always gets in the way. But if I tilt my head a little to the right, as you suggest, it makes it much easier. Thanks for helping me with that simple reminder.
